To'lan Nizom (pseudonym; real name To'lanboy Nizomiddinov) was born on August 17, 1939, in the village of Beshgul, Bo'z district, Andijon region. After finishing secondary school, he entered the Andijon State Pedagogical Institute.

Biography

To'lan Nizom graduated from the institute in 1965. He worked as a teacher in the region for a long time. He participated in public activities. He worked at the Andijon regional branch of the Uzbekistan Writers' Union and at the Saida Zunnunova Pedagogical College in Bo'z. He served as the executive secretary of the Uzbekistan Writers' Union Andijon regional branch (1983-85) and as the director of the Bo'z Pedagogical College (1985-2001).

His first poetry collection was published in 1970 under the title «Sening ertaklaring». Although the poems in this collection expressed innocent feelings and pure dreams, most of them were still quite raw artistically. Such a situation was also noticeable in his second collection titled «Iftixor» (1982). However, as the years passed, the poet began to see the results of his efforts.

Now he begins to rise toward creating true poetry of the heart and soul. He strives to celebrate the spiritual world of man, thoughts and fantasies, dreams and hopes. Feelings of sorrow for the nation, love for the Motherland, and affection for his people began to take a firm place in the lines emerging from the poet's heart.

Activity

The lyrical heroes created by the poet are no longer manifested only by their labor courage as before, but as living people, ordinary humans, revealing their inner worlds, spiritual experiences, and moral beauty as individuals.

At this very moment, his poetry collection «Muqaddas ruh» (1992) appeared. Especially the poems on the theme of mothers in it take a deep place in the reader's heart with their sincerity and their abundance of pure and compassionate feelings. His poetry collections such as «Vatan tuyg'usi» (1993), «Chaman ichra», «Aks-sado», «Intizorlik» (1994), «Dahr bog'i» (1995), and «Saylanma» (1998) were announced. A three-volume collection of his works titled «Bahoriy maysalar», «Avji yoz», and «Zarrin yaproqlar» (2007-2010) was printed.

To'lan Nizom is also a skilled epic writer. His lyrical-epic works such as «Cho'lpon», «Majnuntol yig'isi», «Girya», «Ruxi ravonim», and «Bobur», although products of different periods, have a commonality in terms of meaning and content. In particular, in the epic «Cho'lpon» (1993), he generalizes the tragedy of the poet and the era, while in epics like «Majnuntol yig'isi» dedicated to Mirtemir, and «Bobur», he discusses tragic fates. In «Ruhi ravonim», the poet generalizes the tragedy of Mashrab's fate. In general, while cherishing beautiful human virtues and customs, To'lan Nizom also strives to depict tragic situations in life.

The poet's recently written works - the epic «Botmay qolgan oy» dedicated to Usmon Nosir and the drama «Cho'lpon», as well as the collections «Dovon», «Ruhlar qasidasi», «Alisher», «Suhbat», and «Avvalu oxir» (2002-2003) are proof of the poet's creative maturity. He wrote epics and lyrical novellas such as «Uch so'z» (1995), «Oq gul», «Botmay qolgan oy» (1996), and «Alisher» (2003). He is the author of the epics «Non hidi» (1998), «Suhbat», and «Dovon» (2002) dedicated to the construction of the Kamchiq pass.

To'lan Nizom also wrote wonderful poems about children. His poems like «Andijonda bir qush bor», «Qaldirg'och», and «Oftob ishqi» are aimed at revealing the innocent, mysterious world of children.
